The Peloton Tread and NordicTrack 2950 are two premier treadmills marketed directly to runners. If you are a Peloton enthusiast with a bike+ already at home, you’ll love the new Tread. One Peloton subscription will cover both a bike and tread in the same home. The Peloton Tread has a 24” touchscreen and more compact frame with a chic, airy feel. However, the Tread doesn’t fold up, so you need dedicated floor space, and the belt is a bit smaller than on the 2950. Limited cushioning may be an option for some runners and there isn’t a fan on the console. We are also wary of the hefty price tag on the Tread. Basically, you’re paying for the Peloton brand.
The NordicTrack 2950 has a larger footprint, but folds up when you are done so you can open up floor space when the treadmill is not in use. It also has adjustable cushioning, meaning you can turn the cushioning on and off – and it is more cushioned than the Tread. The touchscreens are roughly compatible at 22” on the 2950 and 24” on the Tread. The higher 4.25HP motor – compared with the Peloton Tread at 3.0HP – will provide ample power for all levels of running.
In a head-to-head comparison, we recommend the NordicTrack 2950. You’ll get a great running experience on both the 2950 offers more features and cushioning for the same price.
