Awesome Table Tennis Return Boards !!
These are two homemade table tennis return boards.
Great equipment to practise table tennis with when alone.
Helps improve topspin, footwork, accuracy and reaction time.
Cost half the price of a basic returnboard but has all the features of more advanced boards.
Cost: $165 AUD
Dimensions of Board: 0.85m(W) x 0.40m(H) x 0.011m(D)
Materials Used:
– 0.8mm thinck ply wood
– 20 sheets of table tennis rubber (bought from ebay)
– 2 heavy duty music stands (bought from ebay)
– 2 bolts and nuts for each board
– Table tennis rubber glue
– Spare wood
Procedure:
1. Cut ply wood to size (as specified above in dimensions of board)
2. Take off metal board from music stand.
3. Drill 2 holes in ply wood board to fit tread of the bolt (in the bottom half of middle of the board) being the right distance apart to fit the connector between the music stand and board. Also drill down half the thickness of the board with a drill bit the same diameter of the bolf head (this is to make should the bolt head doesn’t affect the surface of the rubber) — [this step varies for the type of music stands you buy and the way they attach the stand to the board]
4. [Optional] Cut a block of wood the same shape as the connector between the board and stand and drill 2 holes same distance apart as in step 3 (this is done to project the boards forward a little more to allow greater angle of tilt) (also you can see what I mean in video at 0:18)
5. Place bolt through board and connector (and block of wood if done where the block goes between the board and connector) and secure with bolt. (also see 0:18)
6. Smear table tennis glue over boards and back of rubber sheets.
7. Apply rubber sheets to board working from the top corner (you should be able to fit 2 sheets down and 5 sheets across if done correctly) – (also the rubbers should be glued over the bolts
8. Allow to dry overnight before testing
9. [Optional] Paint/decorate
🙂 Hope that helps a little (I think thats all)
