Electric Treadmill – 3 Critical Keys to Consider Before Buying an Electric Treadmill

Are you looking into getting an electric treadmill?  Before you head on out and dish out the cash, you need to be aware of a few things so that you make the right purchase decision.  Not all treadmills are created equally, so make sure to take these points into consideration:

1.     What’s The Max Speed?

An electric treadmill is always going to have a max speed at which you can run on it, usually this varies between 10mph and 12mph.  Now while the lower end of the spectrum might be fine for you now, you’ve got to think long term.  Eventually you’re going to reach a level of fitness where 10mph won’t provide you with enough of a challenge.  So to pre-empt that, try going for the faster treadmill speeds, this will ensure you get a lot more out of your treadmill experience.

2.     How Much Can It Support?

Another consideration is the weight the treadmill can support.  If you are over 200 or 300 pounds, this is something you’re going to have to think about as not all treadmills can withstand the same force.  Most treadmills can take up to 300 though unless you get a really cheap model, the real issue comes in at 300.  If you fall outside that range, make sure you check that the treadmill will be able to support your weight.

3.     Is It A Fold Up treadmill?

Another feature you can get with an electric treadmill is the ability to fold it up.  This can be helpful if you’re trying to tuck it away under a bed or up against a wall so as to save some space.
