A Look at the Proform 350 Treadmill

How does the ProForm 350 treadmill stack up against other treadmills? The best way to describe the Proform 350 treadmill is economical. Take that as you may but keep in mind that you have one of the premier names in the industry putting their stamp on this machine. If you are not familiar with them, it is the same group that puts out NordicTrack products.

If you are looking for a machine in this price range that is packed with programs, you have come to the wrong place. While most entry level machines will at least feature a couple of basic programs, this machine is totally manual. Now this can be a positive for some people as they get intimidated or have problems with the programs that are on machines. For the rest of you, you are going to have to make all your changes manually during your workout.

Being an economical machine, it has an economical warranty. You will have 90 days on the parts and labor and 3 years on the motor. There is no pretending that this is a great warranty, but you do have the name behind it. ProForm machines are featured in some of the best fitness rooms in the country, it is unlikely that they would ruin their reputation on a $400 machine.

To make up for the lack of programming, the ProForm 350 gives you a couple of features that you would not normally find at this level, a heart monitor and calorie counter. With the current price of heart monitors, it might be worth it to do without the programming. The calorie counter is an added bonus no matter how you look at it.

If you are a large person or a serious runner, this is definitely not the machine for you. It has a weight capacity of 250 pounds and padding that is reflective of the discounted pricing. Even if you are approaching the maximum weight, your joints will suffer on this machine. You are also not going to be able to run with this padding as the stress on your joints will end up putting you in pain. You are better off going with something a little more expensive and better cushioning.

What you have here is a decent entry level treadmill for someone who is looking for a casual workout indoors. For a person fitting that description, you are getting a little more for your money and being exposed to some features (the monitor and calorie counter) that you would not normally get. If you like this, you will probably end up getting a better model with more features down the road.
