Bowflex Revolution FT Review – Is Bowflex Worth the Money?
Bowflex has built a reputation of being a leader in the home fitness industry. After seeing all those flashy infomercials, I was intrigued by the newest model – the Bowflex Revolution FT. I’ve been lifting weights since my college days and I always worked out at a gym – never been into working at home. However, my schedule has changed recently and with the closure of my local fitness center, I needed an option.
Bowflex offers a 6-week trial on their home gyms, which was enough to convince me to try one out. One thing I don’t like is the fact I can’t try one out in a showroom. The problem with ordering online is I have to pay for the shipping if I don’t like it.
The Revolution arrived in several large boxes and took about an hour to assemble. It’s a heavy machine so I would recommend finding a permanent location in your home.
First Impressions
I was pleased to find that the craftsmanship and build on the Revolution is second to none. No wonder it weighs over 200 lbs. This latest model uses Spiraflex, a patented resistance technology that uses elastic straps. Wrapped around a coil, they provide consistent weight resistance throughout the exercise motion. The feel is comparable to free weights and cabled machines. The main advantage of using a coil is greater exercise control and efficiency. It took me a little while getting used to because the Revolution forces you to use good form – unlike free weights where you can shift your posture and balance.
Versatility And Exercises
The Bowflex Revolution FT offers nearly 100 exercises and up to 400 variations. This includes independent moving arms, a multi-point foot harness, and leg press plate. In addition they give you an instructional DVD to walk you through the different exercises.
To offer this much versatility in one machine is impressive – instead of the 3500 square feet of my local gym.
Key Benefits

o Over 100 exercises allows greater freedom in sculpting your body
So, Is It Worth The Money?
I think you need to assess your needs before saying yes or no. What I can say from my experience is the quality and versatility of the exercises makes it one of the best machines in its price range. If you can afford to spend $2,000 on a machine that will last for years to come and kick-start your health and physical appearance, than it would a great match. Considering an annual gym membership costs $700 a year, plus time waiting in line and driving, I think the Revolution pays for itself. Of course, you must be committed to working out. I like to throw on my favorite CD when I train. If your really serious about getting in shape and have the time to workout than a Bowflex Revolution may be just what your looking for.
