Channell Round the Table Ping Pong

All members of the Channell family have been playing Round the Table Ping Pong for years during our family get togethers. The more who play, the merrier. Each person has their own paddle and initially players are balanced around the table (8 on one side, 8 on the other side). You can play with fewer paddles, but you have to lay the paddles down or pass them. Regular ping pong rules are used. One player serves to start the game. As each player hits the ping pong, he or she moves out of the way, following the flow of the play and the next person in line hits the returned ball. We usually play clockwise; counterclockwise is harder. Each person gets three misses and then is out of the game. Each person keeps track of his or her misses. When a player misses, the player who should have received the ball servers next, unless there is no one in line between the two players. Then the one who has a person in line behind is the server. When only two players are left, the players do not move around the table. The player who gets to three misses first is out.
