Reebok Elliptical Trainer Test and Review

Reebok elliptical trainer is an Icon fitness company product. Icon also manufactures and markets Nordic Track, Weslo, ProForm and several other fitness brand names. You probably have already figured it out that they have nothing to do with the Reebok shoe company other than the name.

Never the less a Reebok elliptical trainer may be a good piece of fitness equipment depending on the model and how it is used. As a rule we recommend that you spend at least $1000 or more to assure that you are getting a quality elliptical trainer. If you cannot afford to pay that much for an elliptical then you should spend as much as you possibly can or possibly better yet use the money to join a health club that has quality ellipticals.

We would also recommend that if you are set on purchasing a Reebok elliptical trainer that you consider the RL 1500. The list price on this model is about $1500 but we found several for sale between $1100 and $1200 new in the box. This elliptical has several good features including the ability to set a heart rate exercise program that is regulated by the heart rate monitor. In manual mode the digital resistance is very easy to adjust. As with most high end ellipticals the RL 1500 handle bars provide a good upper body workout making it a true cross trainer. Standard with this model are 15 workout programs to keep you from getting bored with your workouts.

Probably the best thing we liked about this machine was the smooth 20 inch stride. The noise level was considered only fair by our testers who each took this model for a 40 minute ride. Even our football player found the 1500 comfortable to use but he was not all that happy about the unit’s stability. Also the heart monitoring strap kept falling of his 56 inch chest which was called irritating.

Over all our crew of informal testers gave the Reebok RL 1500 a rating of 3.4 out of 5. We recommend that you take the time to take your own test ride before you purchase any piece of exercise equipment. Each person is different physiologically so it is important to find the best fit possible before you write the check.

The warranty on the Rebook elliptical trainer is 90 days which is typical for Icon products. We suggest that you spend the extra money and purchase an extended warranty whenever you purchase any exercise equipment especially if it is manufacture by Icon. However we would recommend this elliptical trainer with an extended warranty due to its features and smooth operation.
