Sole E35 Elliptical Trainer Review
If there is one thing Sole really go to town on with their elliptical machines, is the value for money that you receive. The 2009 Sole E35 elliptical trainer is a prime example of this and within their budget range of ellipticals, you only have to look at the features and specifications to realize you are how well kitted out and advanced their elliptical trainers are.
That being said it is no wonder Sole rate the E35 elliptical as their ‘Best Buy’. For the price you pay, the quality, service and specifications for these elliptical machines depicts that of commercial ellipticals which are three to four times more expensive. The warranty is one of the best I have ever seen to come included with an elliptical. The two year in-home labor and five year parts warranty is better than any other elliptical trainers in its class, in fact better than some top-grade ellipticals.
The first thing you notice about the Sole E35 elliptical trainer is that it is not the most compact of ellipticals. You may need to sacrifice some space but it is well worth it. Neither is it the lightest, at around 200lbs. For the weaker of person, it is highly advisable to have the delivery guys carry the well packaged boxes to where the elliptical will be positioned once assembled. Assembly is surprisingly easy and should take no more than two hours. Instructions are fairly straight forward so by laying everything out and taking it step by step, you should not encounter any problems. If in doubt, Sole customer support is always very willing to help.
With Sole E35 elliptical trainer’s length, it accommodates a 20″ stride that is ideal for the average user and allows these elliptical machines to cater for the taller user. The oversized foot pedals have been designed with input from top sport therapists, to give a two degree inward slope which helps to reduce stress on the lower leg joints and muscles. Adjusting them is easy and helps to create the most comfortable of workouts.
Once you get going, the motion is unbelievably smooth and stable thanks to the heavy duty rails in the drive system and 25lb fly wheel. Like with most elliptical machines, the Sole E35 elliptical trainer provides reverse motion. The feature that really stands out is the power incline. Unlike any other elliptical machines in its class, this feature offers an incline from 15 to 40 degrees with additional resistance to make workouts more challenging. Believe me, when you up the intensity and increase the incline, you really do feel the burn in the lower leg muscles.
The Sole E35 elliptical trainer has more nice touches such as the resistance and incline controls on the handles. There are 16 levels of resistance which allow for diversity in workouts and it has 8 programmed workouts. Sole could have made them slightly more challenging but with the power incline, both motions and plenty of resistance levels, you can create your own workouts. It is unbelievable the options available with these elliptical machines.
The console contains a few other great features, such as a heart monitor which links to the blue backlit display and there is even a small fan which is great relief during those intense workouts. I am quite impressed with the fact you can plug in an iPod or MP3 player and it will play through the built in speakers. The sound isn’t anything to write home about but it keeps you entertained during workouts, compared with other elliptical machines.
Pros – Warranty, quality, stability, stride, power incline, features
Cons – Display, size
It isn’t any wonder that Sole elliptical machines are popular amongst home gym fanatics. The sheer amount of features and specifications put the Sole E35 elliptical trainer on a level par with top end commercial ellipticals. In comparison to the Schwinn 430 and Kettler Verso CT 307, this model has a slight edge. The other two may be several hundred dollars cheaper than the $1299 price tag, but the overall value for money and reliability with the E35, is by far greater.
