The NordicTrack A2550 Pro Treadmill’s Role in the Fit Category
[ad_1]
The NordicTrack A2550 Pro treadmill holds a specific place in the NordicTrack treadmill model lineup. In order to best understand its position it’s helpful to understand the NordicTrack treadmill categories.
The Five of NordicTrack treadmill Categories
NordicTrack Treadmills are grouped into five categories to satisfy different types of users. Each category contains two or more treadmill models. The categories are: Commercial, Elite, C-Series, Incline and Fit Series (formerly called the A Series).
The NordicTrack A2550
The NordicTrack A2550 is the most basic model in the Fit series. It replaces the discontinued A2750 Pro and shares the Fit category with one other model, the NordicTrack T7.0. The A2550 Pro is NordicTrack’s least expensive model at a few hundred dollars below $1000 (price varies by retailer and current promotions). The A2550 is the entry-level model among all NordicTrack treadmills.
NordicTrack A2550 Pro treadmill Specifications
2.5 CHP Motor
Although it is the entry-level model, the A2550 Pro offers the basic necessities required for a treadmill to deliver a solid workout. There’s a 2.5 CHP (continuous horsepower) DURX self-cooling commercial motor to power the running tread. And although 2.5 CHP is the lowest horsepower motor offered on any NordicTrack treadmill, the treadmill is still rated to accommodate users up to 350 pounds. The motor is covered by a lifetime warranty.
55″ Tread Length
The width of the running tread is the NordicTrack standard 20″, however the length is only 55″. This is shorter than the longest tread offered by NordicTrack, which is 62 inches on theirX9i in the Incline Series, and it is 3 inches shorter than the 58″ long tread available on the T7.0, the other model in the Fit category.
10 Percent Maximum Incline
The maximum incline setting on the A2550 Pro is 10% while the T7.0 offers a 12 percent maximum incline. Also, the NordicTrack 2550 Pro has 16 preset workouts; four for Performance, four with Length settings (5k, 10k, 1 mile and 10 miles), four are Timed-based and four of the preset routines are designed by Certified Professional Trainers for Weight Loss. The maximum speed on the A2550 Pro is 12 MPH which is the same as the T7.0.
All NordicTrack treadmills including the A2550 Pro have the Space Saver design which means the running deck lifts into an upright position to reduce the machine’s overall area footprint to create more space when the treadmill is not in use.
NordicTrack A2550 Pro Features and Extras
When it comes to additional options, there are very few on the A2550 Pro. It is equipped with basic equipment such as heart rate monitors in the handgrips and a backlit graphical display with time, distance, heart rates, speed and incline setting information.
And the A2550 Pro does have the ability to be retrofitted with NordicTrack’s iFit Live workout software, which is sold separately and requires laptop computer and wireless internet connection for full functionality. Also, a specific incline and speed can be accessed easily with a one-button interface on the console, a feature available on all NordicTrack treadmills.
Missing from the NordicTrack A2550 Pro are cooling fans and speakers. There is a bracket built in to the track to hold an iPod or MP3 player but there are no machine-mounted speakers for music output. And while some NordicTrack models have on-board fans of various sizes with variable speed settings, the A2550 Pro does not include a fan at all.
Summary of the A2550 Pro treadmill
How much of a drawback the lack of extras such as speakers, fans and a longer tread belt are depends on user preferences. It’s easy to see that for some exercisers a cooling fan would be a nice extra, but at the same time others will feel it’s an unnecessary distraction or expense.
The shorter tread length could be a potential negative especially for tall users and runners with a long stride.
As the entry-level model, the NordickTrack A2550 Pro offers enough speed, incline and preset workouts to get a strong workout at NordicTrack’s best price as long as the lack of extras and the shorter tread length are not necessities for an individual user.
